Based on a cursory glance of the information, I'd say the best weapons are as follows:

Assault: F2000
Engineer: SCAR H
Support: M240B
Recon: M39 EMR or M98B (Depends on style of play)
General: AS VAL
Pistol: M1911

For Assault, I would say the M16A3 with scopes (until G3A3 is unlocked) and .44 Magnum...based on the numbers at all distances.

The F2000 has a quicker "time to kill" at all distances. Add the IR scope, heavy barrel, and foregrip, and it's borderline overpowered. Give it a try before they decide to nerf it. Same goes for the SCAR H.

I'll try that.  I knew something was going on with the SCAR H because I saw one person spray down about 6 people in just a few blasts from long range.

yesterday I leveled 5 people with one clip with the F2000 (IR scope, Heavy Barrel, Foregrip, A touch of class)

I was absolutely amazed.

DenKirson, the de facto standard for weapon charts, is finally working on charts for BF3. Here's the link:

http://denkirson.xanga.com/756891604/bf3/

Once it's complete, I'll replace the link in the first post.

DenKirson did finally post his weapons charts, but they're not completely up-to-date, and not as informative as this other link I found (http://symthic.com/?s=bf3), which is now also listed in the first post.

I didn't realize how much they nerfed the F2000 and SCAR-H until I looked at this. I'm going to have to try out some new weapons. I originally thought the M240B may be the best for Support, but in my experience, and based on these new charts, the PKP is better. The M39, M98B, and AS VAL still remain on the list for their respective classes, but for the pistol, I have to give it to the 93R or G18. The 870MCS shotgun is the best up to 10-15m due to it's narrow cone and ability to one shot kill very quickly, but the USAS-12 is better at distances over 20m.

I haven't had a chance to play with any of the new B2K weapons, but a few of them look interesting. The FAMAS and PP-19 look to be deadly at close range, but lack the accuracy and power, respectively, to be useful at long range. I may try them anyways, but I generally prefer to carry more versatile weapons. The MG36 for the Support class also looks interesting. It's statistics seem to be more similar to an assault rifle than a LMG. As a result, it may be a bit easier to use when not on a tripod, but it lacks the stopping power of the PKP. I'm anxious to give it a try. The remaining B2K weapons are uninspiring.

That said, here's my new prospective list:

Assault: ?? (possibly AEK or FAMAS)
Engineer: ?? (possibly A-91)
Support: PKP
Recon: M39 EMR (semi) or M98B (bolt-action)
General: AS VAL (versatile) or PP-19 (close range)
Pistol: 93R (burst) or G18 (auto)
Shotgun: 870MCS (single) or USAS-12 (auto)
